Short answer Yes
Moonshot EHR sends electronic orders to Quest Diagnostics and files the results back into the patient's chart. Quest ordering is turned on per clinic once the clinic's Quest account is set up, so it is not a switch you flip yourself on day one. The order wizard handles multi-panel orders, saved presets, diagnosis defaults and specimen labels, and patients can book their own draw at a Quest patient service center from the portal.
How it works in Moonshot
- Staff open the lab wizard from the chart: choose tests (saved panels or the Quest directory), answer the order questions, pick the collection location once, and sign. Staff can also enter an order on a provider's behalf.
- Results return into the chart with Quest's own flags shown exactly as sent. Clinic-defined severity is shown as a separate clinic alert so nobody confuses the two.
- Specimen labels print from the clinic, and a signed Quest ABN can be scanned and attached as evidence.
- When patient scheduling is enabled for the clinic, patients pick a Quest patient service center and book the draw from the portal home page.
Limits, stated plainly
- Electronic ordering is Quest only. Other labs (LabCorp, specialty labs) are ordered as outbound orders by fax, and their results come back as documents, not structured values.
- Moonshot enables Quest per clinic after the account and interface are set up with Quest; there is no self-serve switch.
- There is no in-house CLIA lab module. If you run waived tests in the office, you record the values; Moonshot does not interface with bench analyzers.

Questions people ask next
Can patients see their Quest results in the portal?
Yes. Released results appear in the portal with the lab's flags, and the clinic controls release.
Does the clinic need its own Quest account?
Yes. The clinic holds the Quest account; Moonshot connects to it and routes orders and results. Setup happens with Moonshot and Quest together.
Can we order from LabCorp?
Not electronically. LabCorp and other outside labs are ordered through faxed outbound orders from the encounter, and results land as documents in the chart.
