Care Pathways
Care Pathways run the protocol after the visit.Timed steps, repeat cycles and a named owner.
A pathway is a sequence of timed steps that fire a set number of days after a patient is enrolled: lab requisitions, follow-up booking nudges, refill prompts to the provider, texts, emails and forms, provider tasks and patient education.

The platform at a glance
Protocols should not depend on someone remembering.
A testosterone or GLP-1 program has a rhythm: labs at a set interval, a follow-up visit, a refill decision, a check-in. When that rhythm lives in a spreadsheet or in one person's head, patients fall through.
Care Pathways put the rhythm into the EHR. Build the steps once, enroll a patient by hand or automatically when they buy a bundle, membership or product, and each step fires on its day. When a step needs a person, it creates a task with an owner.
The connected workflow
Build once. Enroll. Let each step fire on its day.
See how a pathway runs a program.
Build
Lay out the steps and the day each one fires: lab requisition, follow-up nudge, refill prompt, text, email, form, provider task, education or a payment-update link.
Enroll
Start a pathway for one patient from their Care Pathways card, or enroll automatically when a bundle, membership or product is purchased.
Run
Steps fire on schedule. A step that needs a person creates a task assigned to an owner, so nothing waits on memory.
Repeat
A pathway can repeat every set number of days. Before the next cycle it can send a "continue the program?" form; staff see the cycle number and next date on the chart.
What changes for your team
Programs that keep their schedule.
| The friction | In Moonshot | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Repeat labs tracked in a spreadsheet | Timed lab requisitions in a pathway | Labs go out on the protocol's interval for every enrolled patient. |
| Refills decided at the last minute | Refill prompts to the provider | The provider gets the prompt on schedule, inside the EHR. |
| Follow-up that depends on one person | Steps that create owner-assigned tasks | Every manual step has a named owner in the task list. |
| Patients drifting off a program | Repeat cycles with a continue form | Patients confirm the next cycle, and staff see where each one stands. |
Limits, stated plainly
What Care Pathways do not do.
- Pathway steps never charge a card on their own. Billing runs only in separate billing steps that require a patient consent signed within the last 30 days.
- Billed cycles longer than 30 days email the patient a portal re-consent link before continuing.
- Ending a billed program files a task for the owner; it does not cancel billing automatically.
- Building and starting pathways needs the manage-pathways permission, and a clinic can hide pathways entirely.
Questions buyers ask
Care Pathways, explained.
What can a pathway step do?
Send a lab requisition, nudge a follow-up booking, prompt the provider about a refill, request patient data, send a text, email or form, create a provider task, send patient education, send an estimate or a payment-update link, or re-enroll the patient.
How does a patient get enrolled?
Staff start a pathway from the patient's Care Pathways card, or enrollment happens automatically when the patient buys a bundle, enrolls in a membership or checks out a product.
Can a pathway repeat labs every few months?
Yes. A pathway can repeat every set number of days and can ask the patient whether to continue before each new cycle.
Will a pathway charge my patients?
Not on its own. Charges happen only in separate billing steps that need a recent signed patient consent.
