Short answer Yes
Moonshot EHR lets the clinic owner restrict a chart so that only the owner, the assigned provider and named staff can open it. The restriction applies everywhere the patient appears: labs, notes, forms, prescribing, texts, lists and bulk actions. It is opt-in per chart and only ever removes access; it never grants more.
How it works in Moonshot
- The owner sets the restriction on the patient's chart and names the staff who keep access.
- Restricted patients drop out of lists, search results and bulk tools for everyone else, so a staff member cannot stumble into the record.
- The audit log records who opened a restricted chart and when.
Limits, stated plainly
- Only the owner can set or lift a restriction.
- Restriction is about visibility. It is not a substitute for role permissions, which still govern what an authorized user can do inside the chart.

Questions people ask next
Why would a clinic restrict a chart?
Staff who are patients, public figures, family members of staff, or anyone whose record should be seen by a named few.
Does the patient know their chart is restricted?
Nothing changes in the portal. The restriction is internal.
Can the assigned provider's covering colleague see it?
Only if named on the restriction. The owner can add a name at any time.
