Pay for one connected workflow.

Moonshot can cost more than a standalone EHR. Compare the complete operation: software, extra users, and the staff time spent keeping separate systems in sync.

Moonshot built-in CRM showing lead stages, sources, and assigned staff

What a separate stack can add

External CRM: $117/month equivalent
Example: three Pipedrive Growth seats at US$39 per seat per month, billed annually ($1,404/year).
Manual inventory administration: $390/month
Illustrative workload: 3 hours/week × $30/hour fully loaded staff cost × 52 weeks ÷ 12 months. Think duplicate dispensing entries, matching lot records, and reconciling spreadsheets.

$507/month beyond your EHR

An example, not measured savings or a quote for the competitor. Count only tools you need and work you actually do. Physical counts and clinical review remain necessary; software does not eliminate every inventory hour.

The Moonshot Medical alternative

$1,000/month per location
One prescriber and unlimited staff included. Additional prescribers are $200/month each.
Lead follow-up through ongoing care
CRM, scheduling, clinical charting, medication inventory, and membership billing in the same platform. Fewer separate records for your team to maintain.
Compare the work you can remove
If your existing tools already cover the workflow, do not add them again. If they do not, include subscriptions, integration upkeep, and avoidable duplicate entry in your comparison.

No platform transaction fee; processor fees are separate. Optional hands-on migration starts at $1,000, depending on scope.

Why Prescribing Clinics Choose Moonshot

Two-way texting without a second app

Elation’s built-in texts are reminders and notifications; its help center describes texting patients through the Spruce integration, synced back into Elation. Moonshot texts patients from a clinic number, and replies land in the same Communications inbox as portal messages.

A published price

Elation quotes pricing per practice and publishes no number. Moonshot Medical is $1,000 per location per month with one prescriber, $200 per additional prescriber, and unlimited staff.

Phone and website front desk

Elation lists AI voice agents from third-party partners. Moonshot includes a phone assistant that books and cancels ($250 per location per month with the AI package and 500 minutes) and website chat that books from the live service catalog ($100 per location per month).

When Elation Health Is the Better Fit

Elation fits a primary care practice that bills insurance, or a direct primary care practice that wants a primary-care chart with membership billing and the option to add claims later. It includes membership management on Stripe, free staff accounts, inbound and outbound fax with 1,500 free pages a month per full-time prescriber, and a long list of lab and HIE integrations. If you need claims today, Elation does that and Moonshot does not.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Moonshot EHR bill insurance like Elation?
No. Moonshot EHR does not submit insurance claims, run eligibility checks or connect to a clearinghouse; patients get itemized receipts for HSA, FSA or out-of-network submission. Elation Billing handles claims, eligibility and ERA posting, so a practice with payer revenue should weigh Elation on that basis.
Does Elation have membership billing?
Yes. Elation Membership Management bills recurring membership plans and fees on Stripe through Elation’s patient payments, with a 2.99% fee deducted from each payment, per its help center (checked October 19, 2026). Moonshot EHR bills memberships on Stripe, NMI or TRX on the clinic’s own merchant account and adds no platform transaction fee; processor fees are separate.
Does Elation have EPCS?
Yes, as an optional service through MDToolbox that Elation says may have additional costs; the price is not published. Moonshot EHR prescribes through ScriptSure, including Schedules II through V, as part of the Medical plan with no separate Moonshot fee.
Does Elation have two-way texting?
Not on Elation’s own pages. Its help center describes SMS reminders and notifications, and patient SMS conversations through the Spruce integration, synced into Elation. Moonshot EHR texts patients from a clinic number and shows replies in the Communications inbox (per vendor pages as of October 19, 2026).
