Tebra (formerly Kareo and PatientPop) is an EHR, practice management and insurance billing platform for independent practices, with claims sent through its own clearinghouse. Moonshot EHR does not bill insurance at all: it is built for cash-pay and membership clinics where the patient pays the clinic. This comparison is for that kind of clinic. If you bill payers, Tebra does things Moonshot does not.

The cost beyond the subscription
Moonshot can cost more than a standalone EHR. Compare the complete operation: software, extra users, and the staff time spent keeping separate systems in sync.

$507/month beyond your EHR
An example, not measured savings or a quote for the competitor. Count only tools you need and work you actually do. Physical counts and clinical review remain necessary; software does not eliminate every inventory hour.
No platform transaction fee; processor fees are separate. Optional hands-on migration starts at $1,000, depending on scope.

The differences that matter
Tebra’s help center says recurring monthly charges cannot be set up through Tebra Payments. Moonshot bills memberships on a card on file monthly, quarterly or yearly, tracks what each plan includes, and sells plans from a public join page.
Tebra prices per clinical provider in a signed order form and does not publish the number. Moonshot Medical is $1,000 per location per month with one prescriber, $200 for each additional prescriber, and unlimited staff, all on the pricing page.
Tebra’s pages list no medication inventory. Moonshot tracks medication inventory by lot, including controlled substances, with first-expiry-first-out deduction, reconciliations and dispensing records.
The honest part
Tebra fits an independent practice whose revenue runs through insurance: claims, eligibility, a clearinghouse and an onboarding manager are the product. It also publishes an AI voice assistant and an AI note tool, and non-clinical staff seats are free. If more than a small share of your revenue comes from payers, choose Tebra or another insurance-first system. Moonshot does not submit claims, and we will say so on the call.
