Short answer Yes
Moonshot EHR faxes directly from the chart and receives faxes into a Fax tab inside Communications. Outbound faxes show Delivered or Failed where you sent them from; inbound faxes sit unfiled until staff file the pages to the right patient. Fax is built in, with no separate eFax account to manage.
How it works in Moonshot
- Send records, referral packets, outbound lab and imaging orders, and records requests from the chart; attach a PDF by picker or drag and drop.
- Each outbound fax carries a delivery status (sent, delivered, failed), and failures name the next move.
- Inbound faxes arrive in the Fax tab. Staff file a fax, or selected pages of it, to a patient; a scanned paper stack can be uploaded and split the same way.
- The clinic's fax number shows above the Fax tab next to the texting number so staff can give it out without looking it up.
Limits, stated plainly
- Fax is a transport, not OCR. Moonshot does not read the content of an inbound fax or auto-file it; a person files it.
- Spruce remains an alternative fax path for clinics that already use it; most clinics use the native rail.

Questions people ask next
Do we need an eFax or SRFax subscription?
No. Fax runs on Moonshot's own transport and is included in the subscription.
Can outside labs fax results back to us?
Yes. Outside-lab results return to the clinic fax number and land in the Fax tab to be filed to the patient.
Can we fax straight from the patient's chart?
Yes. Records, referral packets, orders and the Export tab all fax from the chart, and the delivery status shows on the chart afterward.
