Short answer Yes
Moonshot EHR tracks medication inventory by lot with counts, suppliers, first-expiry-first-out deduction, reconciliations and dispensing records, including controlled substances, and orders office stock from Scripts.co through an integration the clinic connects in Settings. Inventory is part of the Medical plan.
How it works in Moonshot
- Receive stock by lot and expiry; administering or dispensing from a visit deducts the right lot automatically.
- Reconcile counts and record discrepancies with a reason, which is what a DEA inspection wants to see for controlled stock.
- Scripts.co: connect the API key under Integrations, browse the catalog, place orders, and track them as they ship.
- IV recipes and bundles draw their components from inventory when administered, where those features are enabled for the clinic.
Limits, stated plainly
- Scripts.co is the only pharmacy ordering integration today. Other suppliers are received manually.
- Moonshot records dispensing; whether your state lets a physician dispense from the office is a regulatory question the clinic answers first.
- No barcode scanning hardware integration.

Questions people ask next
Can we see stock history for a controlled substance?
Yes. Every receipt, administration, dispense and reconciliation on a lot is in its history.
Does it handle compounded products with short expiries?
Yes. Lots carry expiry dates and first-expiry-first-out deduction prefers the soonest-expiring stock.
Can staff without prescribing rights administer from inventory?
Yes, according to role permissions; the administration is recorded under their name on the visit.
