Short answer Yes
Moonshot EHR bills memberships on a card on file at a monthly, quarterly or yearly cadence, tracks what each plan includes per period, handles failed payments, and sells plans through a public join page and the patient portal. Recurring charges run on Stripe, NMI or TRX, which means a clinic keeps its own merchant account and payout history.
How it works in Moonshot
- Plans are built in a plan builder: cadence, price, included items per period, commitment terms, discounts and staff pricing.
- Upgrades apply immediately with proration; downgrades apply at the next cycle. Staff can pause, resume or cancel; patients can request a pause or cancel from the portal if the clinic turns that on.
- A paid visit converts to a membership in one click. Program agreements can be attached to a plan with the price frozen into the signed copy.
- Failed charges keep their invoice number, retry from history, and trigger a card-update message to the patient. A Failed Payments tab and a cards-expiring list keep the desk ahead of churn.
- Reports: a Friday accounts-receivable snapshot, a subscriptions report, a churn list on the dashboard, and a cash-basis accounting journal for QuickBooks Online.
Limits, stated plainly
- Memberships imported from Cerbo or Athena are rebuilt by staff; payment history from the old system does not carry over.
- Portal pause and cancel are requests to staff, not instant self-service, by design.
- Installment plans and split tender run on NMI and TRX; gift certificates sell through Stripe Checkout only.
What it costs
Included in the platform subscription. Using your own NMI or TRX merchant account adds the integrated-payments module at $200 per location per month; Stripe needs no module. Moonshot charges no platform transaction fee on any rail.
