Short answer Yes
Moonshot EHR can require a prepayment or a deposit at online booking, set per appointment type. On Stripe the patient pays through checkout; on NMI and TRX the booking takes a single required prepayment through a public pay link. Patients can also be offered a request-an-appointment flow instead of instant booking.
How it works in Moonshot
- Set a deposit or full prepay per appointment type; the booking page collects it before the slot is held.
- Public pay links work without a login, so a deposit can also be sent by text after a phone booking.
- Gift certificates can be sold from a public booking page for a chosen product.
- A request mode lets patients ask for a time and staff confirm, for clinics that triage before booking.
Limits, stated plainly
- On NMI and TRX the prepay is a single required amount, not a multi-option checkout.
- Gift certificate purchase runs through Stripe Checkout only, and is unavailable when the booking page is in request mode.

Questions people ask next
Is the deposit refundable?
That is the clinic's policy. Moonshot records the deposit and applies or refunds it from Billing.
Can a membership member skip the deposit?
Deposits are per appointment type; members can be routed to a booking link without one.
Can the website chat or the phone assistant collect a deposit?
They book the slot; the deposit is collected by the booking flow or a pay link sent afterward.
